Cybersecurity Best Practices

Most incidents we see are not cinematic. They are unpatched sites, reused passwords, and backups nobody has restored in a year.

Most incidents at small firms are ordinary. A plugin is unpatched. A mailbox password is reused. A backup has never been restored. Attackers do not need sophistication when the door is already ajar.

Start with inventory: domains, hosting, admin users, devices, and vendors. You cannot protect what you cannot name. Then patch, enforce unique credentials with multi-factor authentication, and verify backups by restoring them.

Websites deserve the same discipline as laptops. TLS, updates, least-privilege admin, and monitored uptime are not optional extras. They are the cost of remaining reachable.

Olympus Technology runs security work as operations: audits with a remediation list, malware cleanup when required, and backup designs that survive a bad Tuesday. The objective is recoverability, not a certificate on the wall.
